I had some last-minute issues arise, so I just missed the deadline. More info at the film page. Take a look if you have the time and interest. Good luck people.

Nice work man. Too bad about the deadline.

Thanks. Even with all of its "issues", I am mildly happy with it. (at least it's not "bad" -- I don't think -- as objective as I can be, it's probably at least decent or passable) And now, when I tell people I am an Independent Filmmaker, and they ask what I've done, I can say I made a short film called "False Dawn". Hopefully the first of many, from shorts to feature length among other types. (documentary, etc...) And each one theoretically, and hopefully, better than the last.

I liked your Jekyll and Hyde. Interesting and weird, and you can't beat that.

Does anyone else extend out the storyline of their films as part of the creation? I tend to do that to help insure that the story being told makes sense. And then figure out what part of that can be done in the 4-minute timeframe. Here's the sequel to "False Dawn", titled, "Twilight's Truth":

The film starts with someone rescuing the young girl a couple of minutes prior to the explosion. So she doesn't die, but her Dad, the cabby, does.

Text on screen: "20 years later..."

The girl is now a woman of around 30. Whomever it was who rescued her has turned her into an international spy-type. And she's really good at it. A natural talent, of sorts.

She finally gets a clue as to the whereabouts of her father's murderer (the American -- even though it was actually the Russian who did it), and she decides to take revenge. So she tracks down the American, who is now "retired". And she tries to kill him.

Unbeknownst to her (and for a time, to him, but at some point he finds out), the cabby was not her biological father, she was adopted, and the American is her real father. And he has been secretly looking out for her all these years.

Shortly after that revelation, someone tries to kill her and him. She led "them" to him. And he gives his life to save her.

Right before he dies, he gives her the "poisoning" ring. And then he dies.

She looks at the ring, and sees what it is, but also notices that there is something hidden in it.

The wire.

A little stereotypical and cliched, but I like it, partly because of that.

Both of mine I knew where it was going to continue if it won - and I do mean a directly planned continuation from the moment the last one ended.

Problem is, neither of them won (I REALLY rushed my first one to get it out the door, and even though I spent more time on the second one I know I rushed past a coupla things - like music and sound mixing, and BOTH of them had weak scripts as well), so no one will ever know where they were going.
