On Sunday night a snowstorm swept over Helsinki. Warming climate has made our winters long and dark. Snowy days are rare luxury.

Alright here is the plan, John Carpenters The Thing, part II. Shot entirely in Helsinki. That is the perfect location just going by this video!

Glad to see someone else from my neck of the woods here! =)

It bugs me to bits that I've been sick all through these few days of winter weather and haven't been able to shoot anything (video or stills), so thanx for these lovely images!

Quite depicting of what Ilmari says, this year's official Winner of Nature Photography of the Year is a B&W photo of someone running across a rainy street with an umbrella. The picture is called "Winter in Southern Finland". (vuodenluontokuva.fi/)

Sorry to get sidetracked on my previous post, but I also really loved the shots and think that you have made beautiful and effective use of the Dutch tilts.

Geoff, part one of The Thing was not shot in Helsinki. I'm just saying we shoot part II there... it looks amazing and it looks like a movie set already in this video. :)

Thanks a lot for the comments! By the way, all that snow is now melting and should be vanished by Friday...

Beautiful. Simple. Stylish. Very European feel to it - a timeless quality. Interested to know what camera/format you shot on? The quality on vimeo is very good considering the natural motion of snow etc.
