The Bluenose II has been rebuilt from the ground up to be the ocean going ambassador for Nova Scotia. Beneath the ship's surface you will find all the requirements for modern day sailing (and to meet the regulations!).
Filmed in November 2013 on a less than perfect day, I shot this short piece with a theme in the back of my mind of 'The ship is the sum of all it's parts' & I set out to show all the great detail of the components & then at the end a long shot or two of the Bluenose II in it's dock. This impressive boat is pretty much ready to go now, however it won't set sail until Spring 2014 when it will have a new crew and final sea trials.
We will most likely be reshooting this in the spring in better light along with additional sea trial footage.
I shot this footage on the Canon C100 with Canon 24mm TSE & 70-200mm 2.8 L lenses. I used the Wide DR profile and shot using the internal AVCHD codec which I found to be way better than I expected. Lightly graded in Film Convert.
