The Kandy Esala Perahera is the most colourful and the biggest annual festival of the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha “Sri Dalada Maligawa” in Kandy Sri Lanka.

It is held in the mid-summer nights during the months of July or August every year for 10 days where it also shows the harmonious blending of Buddhism and Hinduism.

This is a MUST SEE event and probably the biggest cultural festival in Asia.

It is undoubtedly one of the foremost World Heritage events named by the UNESCO, attracting thousands of pilgrims and tourists to the scenic hill city of Kandy every year, not only to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic but also to see the Buddhist art, culture, the rituals of “Thevava” and the Kandyan dancing so unique to the Kandy Esala Perahera.
