This is my Cinematography Reel Nov 08.
Cut down a lot compared to the last one. Then, I made a rough cut. With Bill Dill's advise, I tweaked a little bit from there, and this is the final version. It is a painful process. I will not cut it again next several months.
Last time, I made a mistake. I cut with the story, but Bill told me to cut like a music video. I cut whole bunch of stuff, and left good stuff in very short second.
First of all, I edited the music. It took me for long time to choose music. Eventually, I chose, 5 musics in this short period based on what kind of movies that I want to make in the future.
Meanwhile, I was exporting my footage as much as possible in Apple ProRes433 HQ in Mov. The process took so long. Also, I tried to keep everything in 23.97FPS. The format is recommended by Bill.
Then, I started cutting with theme in stead of the story. Especially, I ignored the story. Try not to tell the story was my challenge here. It took me a whole night. I started it from scratch since I got a new computer, everything needed to be reorganized.
Then, I made a rough cut, and Bill suggested me some changes. He though some shots were still too long. Especially good ones, you would not want to stay since you would ruin the goodness. Also, he told me to bring the greatest shots in the reel first. The night exteriors were the one specifically Bill told me to bring it to the beginning. Editing-wise it worked where it was, but who cares? He is always right. I would not argue. Then, it is done.
I have a nice DVD version for the client also.
The naked girl's story (eve by drew moe) has some rendering issue. I will try to fix it next time.
Total running time: 3:09
