Dear Creative Commons users,

Last time the Press department of Creative Commons was contacted about Vimeo was a week ago. They were really happy to see there is an actual interest from Vimeo users about Creative Commons licensing, and they would point out this group next time they talk to Vimeo.

Today, July 13, 2010, the Vimeo team announced official support of Creative Commons licensing on videos. It is a huge step forward in the history of Vimeo—comparable to 1080p HD uploads, video statistics, or HTML5 streaming—, and it will contribute to make Vimeo even more attractive for artists from all over the world.

Once a video is licensed, small Creative Commons licensing details—similar to what we can find on Flickr—are available on the “About this video” section on the right side of a submission.

As a reminder, the official Creative Commons account on Vimeo is the following:

You are now invited to use this new function on your videos!
