"Syrup" studies a community of Central Florida farmers who, for over a hundred years, have been making the yearly sugar cane syrup recipe their family has passed down from generation to generation. This is ooooold Florida, settled and working in the hot southern sun long before Disney, and even its now major-metropolitan neighbor, Orlando, were ever dreamed of. Between the wild pigs, horses, and even the crowing roosters at sunrise, not to mention the old fashioned songs of farm handling and cattle rustling, you can see why this aging american story, really this aging american culture, was worth documenting before it disappears forever.
