"Our existence, in a world-sized set, in a film which has a time frame as long as our history. The chair we all wish we could sit on, in a terribly serious game”
The Director of the World
by Carlo Fumo
A director. A set as big as the world. A film as long as our history. Carlo Fumo, at just 25 years old, is attempting something that is an unprecedented and totally goes against the current of the Italian films that have recently been produced and distributed in Italy. A totally international history, current and original. Brave is the experiment that 'The Director of the World' puts you in front of the eyes with extreme violence. A quick sequence of events, of events, important people, of ordinary people ... so many images that follow one another without pause. The goal? Think and reflect. On the fragile human existence. The irrepressible, inevitability of events. The Director of the World is a game, a game that, though, is likely to take terribly seriously: a gentle caress to the intent and a strong hand in the events. A coast to coast through the human soul pointing to the heart and through the brain. And 'the chair on which we all want to sit, but that terrifies us at the same time. From the most famous cities in the village most disadvantaged, from genocide to the degradation of modern society, the absolute power of lower instincts, forcing the man to the wrath of nature: the director plays with the audience and tries to empathize with that entity all-seeing, with the eye of one who knows. 'The Director of the World' is a mix of ingenuity and courage.
From the film by Carlo Fumo, the story also led to a gripping and exciting novel, the creative writing which will snatch you up, to let you experience the adventure in a more disturbing way, a book could ever give you. The book was launched at the International Book Fair of Turin in 2011. In the film, as in the book, the plot is very complicated and rich connections between the various characters who never cease to amaze with endless twists and turns. It starts from the Hiroshima bomb to get to a finale totally uncertain, open, innovative for the future. A better future. A more righteous future.
The ninth act of 'The Director of the World', entitled "Economic Power", has become a short-promotional whole movie, a prequel / teaser shot with sophisticated criteria of great films. The cast of the prequel of "The Director of the World" has important Italian actors of the likes of Alessandro Haber, Gianmarco Tognazzi, Luca Ward, Massimiliano Gallo, Lidia Vitale, Yuliya Mayarchuk, Nicola Acunzo, Naike Rivelli, Orfeo Orlando, Yoon C. Joyce. The crew is made up of : the editor Claudio Di Mauro, who has won the "David di Donatello Award" and the famous engineer Gaetano Carito, winning three times the "David Donatello" and two times the "Nastri d’Argento/Silver Ribbons", the director of photography Francesco Di Giacomo and the author of original music by Adriano Aponte, twice winner of the "Los Angeles Music Awards." Very against the current and courageous was also the choice to shoot the prequel in film 35mm anamorphic lenses, all in collaboration with Kodak, D-Vision and Technicolor in Rome, for maximum visual quality.
