Education

A teacher resource in environmental science education demonstrating the techniques and practices within the Soil Sleuths lesson. Students take a trip to the compost and learn how waste is broken down. The lesson then moves to the science lab to inspect different meso-organisms in soil. These students inspect compost, vermiculture, and forest soil under microscopes. In the end, students learn about the benefits of composting, how decomposition works, and different bugs found in different places. This lesson is designed for 4th and 5th graders, but can be used at any grade level. See more at IslandWood.org
