Experimental Video Art

Portraiture is a powerful exchange between artist, subject and viewer with codes and rituals between the three becoming a complex interplay of power, positioning and performance. A portrait is the questioning or exploration of the self and identity through a literal representation of what somebody looks like. This piece is part of a series exploring how I might appear to others - is it possible to reveal oneself through another persons gaze?
In this sequence the other people are strangers, moments encountered in numerous public spaces, but all with one thing in common - me with a small but noticeable camera, filming in spaces where we are all already being filmed.
Is this voyeurism? A hostile act? A comment on surveillance? A paranoid self-conscious artist?
