FilmCAN Rules & Regulations
1) Videos are to be uploaded to vimeo.com/groups/filmcan by 11:59 PM PST on December 15th, 2011. You will need to sign up to Vimeo to upload a film. Any videos uploaded after that date will not be eligible.
2) Be advised that video content which would receive above a PG rating will be pulled from Vimeo as per Vimeo's Terms of Service (see vimeo.com/terms/ for more details) and therefor will not be eligible for consideration.
3) Videos must be between 2-4 minutes in length. Anything longer will be disqualified.
4) When submitting, you must indicate whether you are a junior-category (grades K-8) or senior-category (grades 9-12) student and which school you attend (if applicable) in your film's description in order to be eligible for FilmCAN.
5) Only those students from kindergarten to grade 12 residing on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands within the province of British Columbia are eligible for FilmCAN.
6) On January 3rd, 2012 at 12:00PM PST, submissions will first be judged by amount of like ratings. From a Top 5 list of films with the highest like ratings, remaining submissions will next be judged by a Film Festival jury, from which a winner in both the Junior and Senior categories will be picked.
7) Winners will be announced on our web page at our Pre-Festival Bash at 6PM on January 5th, 2012. Both the Top 5 Films in each category and winners in each will be announced on our web page (victoriafilmfestival.com) as well.
8) You will require written permission from any performers and have permission to use any copyrighted music that may be in your film. The Top 5 films in each category may be asked to provide this if needed. Failure to provide proof of these will result in an ineligible submission and disqualification from FilmCAN.
9) By submitting a film to FilmCAN, you agree to all the rules and regulations mentioned previously and agree to abide by Vimoe's Terms of Service.
10) The winning films in each category will be shown on the big screen during the Victoria Film Festival (February 3-12, 2012.)
