CINEMA, the Denver Film Society and History Colorado have partnered to host a student film competition for students in grade six through graduate school designed to foster appreciation and interest in creating films in Colorado’s historic places.
To be considered, students submitted a written proposal for a two- to five-minute documentary or narrative film that includes how Colorado’s historic places will be featured in their film.

To be considered, students submitted a written proposal for a two- to five-minute documentary or narrative film that includes how Colorado’s historic places will be featured in their film.

Ten proposals were selected and made eligible for production-related reimbursements of up to $400. Students were partnered with a film industry professional who will serve as their mentor, as well as a historic preservation expert for resource guidance.

Here are the completed films. The film with the most "likes" by 8:00am Friday, May 17 will be named the People's Choice film. All the films will be screened by a jury on May 16, 7:00pm, at the Denver Film Society's SIE FilmCenter.

Laura Grey - Colorado, Heritage and Agritourism Program Manager
Michael Haskins - President, CINEMA
Steve Turner - Vice President of Preservation Programs for the State Historical Fund and the Deputy State Historical Preservation Officer
Donald Zuckerman - Director, Colorado Office of Film Television & Media
Winning films will be announced during Archaeology & Historic Preservation Month celebrations at the History Colorado Center on May 17 at 5:30pm.
