2012 will once again see Bridport host its unique ‘From Page to Screen’ film festival, this year curated by Francine Stock, novelist, critic and presenter of Radio 4's The Film Programme. The festival, with new partners Virgin Media and BAFTA, will be held in Bridport, West Dorset on April 11-15th 2012.

Created by the Bridport Arts Centre, this ever-expanding celebration of film and literature also boasts the ‘Flash Film’ competition, whereby entrants select a story, of no more than 250 words, from the winning group of the ‘Flash Fiction’ section of the Bridport Book Prize held in November 2011, and create their own interpretation of the written word into film-form, lasting just 60 seconds.

This innovative festival acts as a platform, for aspiring writers and film makers to showcase their talents, and to celebrate the successes of artists before them whose work doesn’t always receive the recognition it deserves.

2011: Author and Guest Artistic Director Jonathan Coe has selected this year's winning Flash Film - The Present by Robinson and Simpson from Isis Media.

About the competition
Flash Film is your chance to join in the From Page To Screen film festival - with your own film adaptation.

Here's the idea: you choose a 250-word Flash Fiction story, make a minute-long movie of it (and up to 20 seconds extra for titles/credits).

The winning films will be shown on the big screen as part of the film festival.

We'll be developing Flash Film further in the coming months...watch this space.
