I've had the Gh1 for about a month now without getting to really test its video capabilities. Went to Times Square this past weekend to finally capture some footage. Kit lens and 50mm 1.4 Canon lens. I'm very pleased with the early results. Some shots were definitely over/under exposed but hopefully it will all sort out as I get myself more familiar with it.

Good stuff Wii! I was definitely thinking the same thing about some shots being over/under exposed but for the most part it turned out good. I liked the way you edited this piece together. And a break-dancing sponge bob...who knew!

Very nice. My advice on the exposure is always use the histogram. Play with aperature and ISO (and shutter speed) and see what it does to the histogram. If the histogram is clipped (either end) you have a potential problem (lost information). If it's not clipped you can always lighten or darken it later.

Thanks Bob. Do you ever use the +3/-3 meter at the bottom of the LCD? I didn't use the histogram but I was referring to that instead. It's obviously not as accurate..

The +3/-3 meter can reflect an average of some kind so it won't tell you if you're clipping at the white point or black point. I look at it for a secondary reference - but the thing I trust and go by is the histogram. I'm following the advice here:
    hotrodcameras.com/category/panasonic/lumix-dmc-gh1/
He says: "Turn on the histogram function, and if you don’t know how to read it, test it until you do."
