It's late in the year and the cacophony of bird chatter that once saturated the atmosphere has been reduced to nothing more than a rushing of wintry air. Though the scenery has changed, there is work to be done. Employees of REI Oxnard and Santa Barbara make their way to Anacapa Island, part of Channel Islands National Park, volunteering for an enriching day planting a plethora of native plants. Grown on-island, these plants will be given permanent homes in areas where invasive non-native ice plant has been previously removed as part of a service project with Channel Islands Restoration and the National Park Service.
