This group is only for sharing true or faux HDR videos.

HDR video extends the latitude of the camera from around 12 to 18 stops and beyond.

TRUE HDR videos are recorded by a camera capable of recording RAW footage with a built-in beam-splitting function (luminance values, not colors) or the ability to record at two different exposures simultaneously. Currently only RED cameras with HDRx technology (and presumably ARRI Alexa Plus) are capable of achieving this in a single camera. TRUE HDR may also be achieved by combining motion controlled footage from two cameras capable of recording RAW.

FAUX HDR videos are those achieved by regular cameras (those not capable of recording RAW)
1) either sequentially combining multiple takes of an under- and over-exposed area in the frame;
2) or setting two separate cameras at varying exposures and recording them simultaneously on a 90-degree angled 3D-rig.

What isn't HDR Video:
- timelapsed HDR stills (from bracketed exposures)
- HDR-looks achieved by tonal mapping in post (may look cool, but doesn't expand the latitude)
