The year 2012 have been an incredible experience for us. Beginning our first project in february ("First promo of 2012") we sat "the bar" very high. I`ve always felt that the development through the history of our films, should just keep climbing and newer descend. I also feel that that is very true when we talk about our projects in 2012.
From the promo quite early in the year we expanded into a terrain cross cycling film that would arise quite a bit from the promo. We shot most of it on the canon t2i (550D) because of the higher frame rates, and at the time we had more lenses for that sensor.
Through the year we transitioned from the 550D to the 5D mark ii. That gave the picture higher spectacle and sharpness.
The Hilux Movie was clearly the weak-point of the year, but we learned an incredible amount of VFX issues such as "Rig Removal" and "3D tracking". I feel that the result of that project was far from our best film, but more of a learning process for us.
The tele2 commercial blew everything out of proportion. We started the shoot in september and shot everything from downhill to skydiving. If anyone would have told me that by the end of the year I would have started on a commercial for tele2 that eventually would place me hanging out of a helicopter to shot skydivers, I would not believe my luck.
It was important to me to end the year by changing the logo for "firestorm productions", to really raise "the bar" for future productions, yet I have no idea what we should do once we are finished with the three commercials(1 for tele2 and 2 for OFSK- Oslo Parachute Club). We wish you all a happy new year, and looks forward to share some of our productions with you in the future.
