Coming towards the end of a month long winter break, it was time to get that one last adrenaline rush before heading back down to school in Boston. My dad and I were given the great opportunity to test ride a ready-to-race KTM 505 SX-F, but unlike any other 505, this one was prepared for heavy duty ice racing. If the spikes on the tires didn't screw with your mind, riding at speeds up to 60mph on a sheet of ice and snow certainly did. We were accompanied by many riders, specifically Jim and Jeff, who showed us the ropes of riding the ice and what to look out for. After riding many laps and getting the hang of things (of course not without my own low-side crash), it became quite clear that this was an addicting hobby; and an expensive one at that.
Being that we are in New Hampshire during the heart of January, it was cold and windy to say the least. With temperatures hovering in the single digits, your fingers got numb quick. Having left my tripod at home, all my footage was taken hand-held on my Sony FX1, so I apologize for the shakiness..
I'd like to thank Mason Racing, our local KTM dealer; as well as Jim and Jeff who got us out on the ice. We had a blast and look forward to doing it again sometime.
To everyone else, enjoy the video! And thanks for watching!
