    Hi,
I just love all the colour, the festive atmosphere and the music.
It's a shame you couldn't have got a higher vantage point in which to capture the stage and the audience from slightly above the scene. Impossible probably but that would have been great!
Seems funny to see people talking on mobile phones during such a traditional festival. The modern world hey :)

    Tracy,

I am glad you like the colors; indeed it is colorful everywhere since it is traditional festival. Young generation waiting for this festival eagerly, they starts practicing before two months ago, infect for coming up 2008 festival classes for this kind of dance starts! It is huge festival of Gujarat one of India's state! But in this modern times this festival become so professional, big corporate also sponsor this festival in big way, there so many competition held every year in this festival, and the winner get some very expensive gift as well!

And the good thing is every year so many people from different part of world come to see this festival!

I do agree about your comment, there was some limitation for me while capturing these dances, it was very much crowd, too many people here and there, we can't concentrate. And the level was very much flat I was not in position to capture from little height, and if I go far cannot capture performer because people come in between. And I was not official photographer for shoot this video, otherwise I would have gone with every necessary steps. I was not having tripod, infect I have uploaded some 29 videos my all videos are hand handled!

But this year will try to capture these dances in proper way let's hope.

Thanks for your comment, and I give you an invitation to come over here for this upcoming festival.

Thanks Kaushik for sharing this interesting impression of India !!! I have never been there before.

My suggestion about the movie ... try to work more on the editing. Shorter cuts, combinations of wide angle views and close-ups making the movie more enjoyable to watch.
I know, it is not easy, because everybody is using a camera naturally like his human eye first ... discovering something new in the scenery, moving there with the lens ... but for example in this festival scene, you have time. People are dancing all the time. Try to shoot some wide angle views from different sides and combine them with close-ups from faces, bodies, feet, instruments or whatever. As many variations as possible, thinking about a good balance while editing all takes later. The footage is not that bad, so if you cut it down to maybe 3 minutes or something like that, it will become a nice movie.

    James,

Thanks for your notes, and I am glad you like the video.

You are right what you said about editing and I will take care of it in future. And about close-up and etc. it was very difficult for me to capture from different angle, there were so many people, here and there and they come in between you must have noticed!

And it true as you said, this become lengthy movie, but I wanted to show more & more so it went very lengthy, but definitely it would have been better if I would have made with some good editing shorter movie!

    Thanks for watching it!

And you put picture of old movie star "William Shatner" the Star Treck captain Kirk! Do you like him much?

And you have been never in India; I would recommend you to visit this country!

Thanks for your answer, Kaushik. Here in Tokyo, people would say "Ganbatte kudasai !", which is difficult to translate exactly into English, but it means something like "Keep on trying", a positive motivation to develope yourself, trust in yourself, etc.
You are living in an interesting country, most people haven't been yet and a movie is a very good instrument to show and express something. You even don't need to wait for the next festival, there are so many things, people will be interested in ... things, which might be pretty normal for you but new and interesting for people, who have never been to your country.
Nowadays, the internet is full of information and impressions from foreign countries but most of them are pretty the same, showing just famous sigthseeing-spots or events but less impressions of daily life. Interesting challenge, isn't it ?

About my nickname ... well, I didn't know about Vimeo so well when I signed up, so I chose a nickname ( instead of my real name ), easy to remember for me and for everyone ... but indeed, the famous starship-captain was the hero of my childhood, influenting my life in many ways even I am not such a big "Trekkie" in general.
When the STAR TREK original series ( TOS ) came into TV, it was something, never shown before ( a future, in which people can reach the stars and all races are living together in peace ) and actually never shown again, because most of the science fictions, created later, are more based on military action and special effects ... and ... the TOS still has its charme, I think. Strong characters like Spock and Kirk, people can identify themselves with and a fantastic mood. I love the colors, make-ups and lightings in the original series !!! ( Wish, I could create something like that with my camera ... hahaha ... )
The makers could create thrilling stories and an intensive imagination of a future-world without any computer-graphics and many special-effects. For me, it is also a symbol of the possibiliy to make fantastic things without having a million-budget. As I said, watching action- and SiFi-movies lately, I am just getting bored. An opera of special effects, often looking just like an intro of a new PlayStation-game. The young generation might like it, but I know so many people, who got already tired watching always the same stuff ... heros created by a MAC and not by great actors ( even I think, Bill Shatner is not one of the best actors, he is "just" James T. Kirk somehow, but he played this character like maybe nobody else could have done it ).

So, my "hero of the childhood" still gives me some goals ... improving myself as an actor and descovering new ways of thinking and living, "where no man has gone before" ;-)))

    James,

Thank for "Motivation". Yes, you are right beside festival there are so many things to do, will try to do something innovative!

And you are right about "Star Trek" series, it was long time ago and they assumed very well about future, I still remember when I was kid, captain Kirk's wireless communication instrument, the way he was opening the phone cover, now we do have Mobile phone!

And I just uploaded my new video of “Thunder Bird” new Motor bike from “Royal Enfield”.
