Another program besides Arcsoft?

You know the default crudeware that comes with the Kodak Zi6?

Well i'm not sure if anyone has asked before, but does anyone know an alternative, that is better?

I don't care the price, or if its free!...Just want something better.

    Thanks!

I'd be interested as well. I use Corel's Video Studio X2. They make it for consumer level editing and it isn't that hard to use but I'm on the fence about recommending it.
I see references to sony vegas in the forums and wonder if that is best?

Well I just picked up a Zi6 from Target for $49.99 (They were on clearance to make space for the Zi8) and can open the .Mov files just fine in Premiere Elements.

I use Premiere Pro CS4. I think it's a very good program but with HD video files you need a hi-end computer and still need to make proxi files for the edits on the timeline.
    Just my 2 cents.

I'm testing the best and the second video editors from this review.
I hope this info helps you. I agree with Scott, Corel VideoStudio X2, it isn't that hard to use.

FWIW, I tried Kodak's included MediaImpression on two different computers and it crashed on both, using both the version 1.x that came with the Zi6 and the version 2.x that comes with the Zi8. I think if you only ever use it with video clips generated by Kodak cameras it will work fine, but when you try to use it with any other video clips in other formats (MPEG2, WMV, AVI, etc.), it crashes constantly, even when just trying to display a thumbnail preview of a video file! This is with Windows XP Pro SP3 on two different computers, an IBM Pentium-4 and a Compaq Pentium-III.

Ok forgive my newness. How do you make Proxi files for the timeline? I tried a few editors and preview was impossible. Thanks

    Sorry for the delay, Mike.
I use Adobe Media Encoder (in win xp) and convert the original files into "light" .mov files at a framerate of only 2000 kb/s. So I'm able to load the project in the timeline and do all the edits. Once I'm done, I close Premiere, swap folders and restart Premiere. At this point I send the project to the encoder for the final output. This works for me. But there are also other ways.
