Chinapainting, an acoustic guitar/multi-instrumental/cassette tape looping duo of improvisational experimental music, while on their October 2009 west coast tour, performed at the literary and performance space, Beyond Baroque in Venice, CA.

The evening show, the last leg of their tour was shared with the manipulative noise duo of G.E. Stinson and Steuart Liebig. Stinson is known for being the founder of the World Jazz ensemble Shadowfax and for his work with Nels Cline.

Chinapainting is the collaborative duo of co-founders Daryl Shawn and Jim Goodin who met by chance via an Internet experimental music web community in the fall of 2006. The pair worked together for 8 months via the Internet creating the foundation of Chinapainting before taking it live to the formal stage and studio in the summer of 2007. To date Chinapainting has recorded 3 CD's, their latest Night Blooming Cereus, and conducted 6 national mini tours.
