I posted this question on apple forums (discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8881059#8881059):
"I'm trying to do end of year tax contribution letters to 200 supporters of a 501c3 ministry. I have their contact information and the amount that they gave in 2008 stored in a group in Address Book. Rather than incur postage costs, I'd like to send a "thank you" email to each supporter with an attached pdf that contains their name, address and the amount of their 2008 contribution. Any suggestions?"

A nice guy named Barry wrote back a long and detailed answer. This answer did not work. I spent 6 hours trying to make it work. It failed. Failed. Failed.

Well, I *always* wanted to learn to use Automator and I can't figure out any stinking other way to do what should be a shit simple problem.

So I spent 2 hours recording the motions just right so that the Apple Automator could successfully go through perfectly. Still can't figure out how to PASTE text into the Subject line, so I just watch the Automator. Type. It. Out. Slowly.

And I dance like no one is watching.
