Cyclone repertory proudly presents a staged reading of Aiden O'Reilly's new play "Self Assembly" directed by Peadar Donohoe and featuring Paula McGlinchey, Shane Falvey, Shane Casey and Sean McNally.
Premiering Saturday, May 28 at 6pm in The Corcadorca Theatre Development Centre at The Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin St., Cork.
Admission is free.
A box of unknown origin is delivered to Eugene’s apartment. He opens it and finds a woman to self-assemble. She’s naked in every sense. Once assembled the woman is beautiful, apparently vacuous and charming in her naiveté - the perfect woman! But as their relationship grows it becomes apparent that she has an acute intelligence and questions Eugene’s facile notions about life and how to live it. Eugene, in turn, becomes "stripped" by her.
Self Assembly has been recently been published in "The Stinging Fly" literary magazine.
Video performance directed by Martin Vallely, filmed and edited by Moira O'Brien LIPF
Filmed on a Canon 5Dmk2 using Jag32 rig and monitor, lit using available light supplemented by an on rig 90LED light except for the dance sequence which was entirely lit by the 90LED light, edited down on FCP from 5.5 mins to 1min 58secs.
