After some great feedback I spent today making a new shot based on a tank bursting through two hedges. I started by making the animation in 3DS Max animating a tank to roll over a basic terrain. I then went into Maya and used Paint Effects to create the bushes and then converted them to polygons so I could use nCloth to simulate them. Instead of using multiple nucleus's I used two bounded Gravity fields that were key framed to activate on the tank collision of each hedge. I also used more friction this time to stop the leaves sliding around.
Next step would be Snapping Branches, Tank Tread Marks in the ground and More Leaves.
