With a need to get out and test my gear and theories about combining cycling and hiking for my big trip and motivated by Alastair Humphreys recent series of "Micro adventures" I thought I'd put a short video together while out and about.
I don't usually narrate in my videos, but just this once I thought I'd talk too much to get over the "I hate the sound of my own voice" phase.
Day 1 - train for 2 hours cycled 60km
Day 2 - Hiked 20km
Day 3 - Hiked 16km
Day 4 - Cycled 60km + train home.
Things I learned:
-Need a bigger backpack, but thats tricky if I want one that fits on my bike.
-I forgot how much I love hiking but also forgot how much a backpack hurts your shoulders after 5 hours.
-Dont forget to pack your underpants, walking for 5 hours in cycling shorts is not very nice, walking "comando"is worse.
-Like my hammock:)
