Occupy Video - The Movie will be a meta-video based on videos from current social change movements around the globe; including the Occupy Movement, the Egyptian Revolution, the Indignados movement in Spain, Indigenous struggles in Mexico, Central and South America, and other movements. Our aim is to collect, curate and combine social movement media. Occupy Video - The Movie will highlight the commonalities of these struggles worldwide. There is much to learn and share from these global experiences.

Our open call, effective immediately, is for videos by artists, activists, amateurs and professionals - anyone interested - up to fifteen minutes of any form, edited or unedited, including first person testimony, creative responses or interpretations, as well as documentations of social movement gatherings, meetings, actions, etc. We hope a wide a range of videos are shared with us - especially by women, youth, Lesbian, Gay, Bi, transgender and Intersexed (LGBTI) people, non-citizens, immigrants, temporary workers and racial and cultural minorities - perspectives that deepen and amplify the meanings and messages of contemporary movements.

Upload your videos to either Vimeo or Youtube and attribute a creative commons license, that allows us to remix your work, then email the link and all relevant info to occupyvideothemovie@gmail.com by September 1, 2012.

Using the submitted videos, we will produce a feature length video mosaic of global social movements (October 2012), a Vimeo Group vimeo.com/groups/occupyvideo (on going) and a blog that features dialogue, conversation and analysis with the video makers (ongoing) tumblr.com/blog/occupyvideo-themovie
as well as create other projects, including further videos, screenings, exhibitions, and events.

About the Occupy Video collective: We are a group of long-time media activists and producers, including Tim McCarthy, Dalida María Benfield, and VJ Um Amel, who formed a working group at the Occupy Research Data Hackathon held at MIT, Cambridge, MA in April of 2012.
