Young Creatives 2006 - Portugal
Creatives: Pedro Lourenço & João Dornellas
We open on a typical moroccan salesman talking to the camera and trying to sell a watch.
He uses the traditional tourist aproach: first he tries to guess where you come from and then says everything that comes to his head about your country. In this case, Portugal.
Moroccan: Monsieur, monsieur... 45 euros... 40... Italian, French? Portuguese? Portuguese, yeah! Figo, Figo! Algarve! Port Wine!
After mentioning the traditional portuguese icons he enumerates the most important examples of portuguese technology used all over the world: ATM machines, NASA Technology, software, chip cards, etc...
Moroccan: Multibanco (the portuguese word for ATM) “green button... code... green button”; software; smartcard; Via Verde (the portuguese word for the electronic toll collection system)...
Super: Portugal is more than football, sun and Port wine. It’s a land of technology and innovation.
Moroccan: ... NASA technology “Houston, no problem!”, computers... chips...
Super: It’s time to look at Portugal in another way.
He ends up trying to sell hashishe.
Moroccan: Hey, want some hash?
