Public Art

Aava Isle began from one passionate diver’s dream. It is a place where the sport and the art of diving will be developed to levels never seen before. The floating building houses 5 meter deep and 16 meter wide water cube surrounded by audience seating. Restaurant and conferencing facilities are also provided. During the day the building functions as diving centre. In the evening it turns into underwater theatre.

Working together with the Lewel Group Finland, Lighting Design Collective has created a kinetic facade that sparkles and reflects the surrounding waters during the day and displays abstracted patterns of light at night. The light movement is based on fish behaviour. Custom software inspired by biomimicry controls the movement of light.

Inside the watercube underwater stage is lit with sophisticated LED based theatre rig.
