Unboxing of 2 Red One's, Red's new and highly anticipated Digital Cinema Cameras. A small company called Octamas invited me to do the Unboxing-Video, and here's what came out. Enjoy! And big Thanks to Octamas for letting me touch RED...

  • Very awesome. I'd love to see some footage posted. I'm still a bit new to what exactly RED is. It's a newer HD technology right? Bigger than HD or something?

Michael, it's essentially D-cinema resolution, or "Digital Cinema" resolution. If you see a "film" in the theater and it's projected digitally, meaning no celluloid, all the data is grabbed from a HD, or via a datastream over some data pipe (satellite or otherwise), it's typically projected at 2k, 4k, which is what these Red camera's work in. So yes it's beyond HD, and with the introduction of the Scarlet (3k), these "beyond HD" resolutions are now within grasp of even us vimeons. I am seriously in the market for a good HD camera, and these RED camera's are really attractive, but I know a lot of the money needed to get these to run, is in the lenses they require, and in the massive amounts of storage one would need to actually edit and work with the footage. Very interesting times!

cool. How did you do the voiceover. Is there a sound filter for creating the sound of a man who has been smoking 3packs a day for the last 20 years?
I'd love to use this voiceover myself.

    Well that's not a filter, that's a professional speaker :)

I can give you his number if you want...
