SCREENDANCE COLLECTIVE

Stéphane Glynn Created by Stéphane Glynn Plus

This group aims to foster an environment where artists and viewers interested in Dance for Camera (a.k.a Screendance, Videodance, Cinedance, Dance on Camera) can share work, engage in conversation, peer review one another, and enjoy high quality dance films. This group will be carefully curated so as to maintain a high standard of quality. Please note, we are not simply interested in any dance on the screen. Rather, this group will focus on works that take a synergistic approach, integrating both elements from film and dance creatively.

Rules*

1. Not just a dance, not just a film: both elements

*All films will be carefully reviewed and accepted or rejected by the moderators. Below are more specific questions that we will be asking ourselves each time we view work.

1. Why is this on the screen? Is this film a meaningful use of the medium?
2. What is the role of dance in the film?
3. Why is the film set in this location?
4. What is the kinesthetic impact of the film?
5. Is this film appropriately cast and directed?
6. How does the film move through time, both in relation to choreography and editing?
7. What's the impact of this film? Is there clarity of intent?
8. What is the narrative structure, if there is one?
9. Why is it fabulous, or why isn't it?
