"Losing You Forever" by Guilty Bystander
A hidden beach near Point Dume in Malibu, California. 7AM, Wednesday June 10th, 2009.
WHY I FILMED THIS:
I didn't sleep the night before (because I was playing with my new camera) so I went to the beach to catch a sunrise. Unfortunately the morning wasn't as pretty as it usually is this time of year but managed to get some decent shots in. I wasn't really focused much on making a video that morning but I couldn't help but check it out. So far I'm loving it and I'm sure it'll look much better once I learn it a bit more.
I color corrected it a little and give it some vignetting in FCP (Final Cut Pro) but more than anything, I wanted to see how well the 1080p would handle being cropped. In the scene where the camera pans a full 360, I used the "smooth cam" effect in FCP to reduce shaking. Unfortunately, I slightly zoomed out on accident (in FCP) which caused a small black border to appear on the top (0:50 - 1:00) but other than that the crop didn't really effect the video at all! I myself would be fooled if no one told me it was cropped.
I also converted the video from 30p to 24p using Cinema Tool and Compressor.
I can't wait to see how this will look on a sunny day!
