Heya, I mentioned this in a thread somewhere but I might as well drop a real post on this feature.
One of the selling points of this camera has been it's 4 FPS shooting.
However if you don't mind shooting in 2 MegaPixel 1600x1200 (4:3) or 1920x1080 (16:9) you can shoot at 6-7 fps when the light is good.
You simply turn your mode dial to SCN:ISO3200 and choose burst and there you have it, 7fps when the light is good.
The downside to this is very very noisy pictures, but...
You can reduce the noise by using CHDK's ISO override.
Check this comparison.

Further more you can add flash to your bursts as well by clicking CHDKs force flash option (keep flash power at 0). The flash won't fire unless you press, half-release and repress the shutter.
Note I have no idea how/if this is harmful for the camera, use at your own risk.
You can read about CHDK in the sticky in our forums here. vimeo.com/groups/sx1/forumthread:4123
Or the CHDK official wiki here. chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK
Timelapse and motion detection scripts are 2 advantages to using CHDK with your SX1.
If you read our forums sticky you will find the full list of features and the user Anders Enbom posted a correct and easy way to get CHDK onto a card bigger then 4Gb, which can be somewhat tricky.
*Edit*
Made a quick tutorial on how to install CHDK, it's actually really quick and easy once you figure it out.
