Copyrighted Music:
The Beating strongly encourages all filmmakers to use original or copyright free music for their soundtracks, however The Beating does not enforce that filmmakers use copyright free music. Films created for The Beating are seen as non-profit educational projects. Using copyrighted music can greatly reduce your opportunities for further distribution or broadcast so it is best to use music that is original or in the public domain if that is your goal.

Selection of Winners:
All entries will be judged by a special panel of judges from Silverton Mountain, Freeskier Magazine, and Snowboard Magazine. Submissions are judged on three primary factors: Creativity, Entertainment Value, and Quality. Films that make a lasting impression will be the winners. The top 10 finalists will be shown at the Grand Imperial bar in Silverton, CO on January 7, 2012 at 7PM.

Tips:
Do not feel obligated to use the maximum 5 minutes of time for your projects. Less is more and tight editing will improve any film. There is no minimum and we expect some of best entries to be much less than the maximum time. One of the key questions we ask when judging a film is, "Will bunch of snow enthusiasts enjoy watching this?"

Please note:
The Beating reserves the right to disqualify entries at their discretion for reasons including but not limited to offensive material.

The Beating may use all or part or all of your film to help promote The Beating. All submissions welcome. If you have any questions please send an email to:zach@smpmags.com
