My brother James, my fiance Christy and I created this short film as part of the entertainment for the 2008 winter formal at Fresno Adventist Academy.
This is the first short film that I shot with the Nikon D90. I had less difficulty than with Unbreakable Glass, because the takes were much shorter, so the camera did not overheat and shut down. I was delighted to find that Too Much Too Soon released a new filter that rescales the D90's footage, getting rid of the ugly stair-stepping and making the curves as buttery smooth as the 24p frame rate.

Fun Tidbit: The morning breakfast scene was shot at 1 a.m. with a 1k halogen.

Special thanks to:

Christy for all her help and letting us use her half of the D90.

James for coming up with most of the ideas.

Mrs. Jones for playing the scariest English teacher ever and letting us use her room many times.

Ms. Jordan for pretending to throw up for way too long and letting us use her room almost as many times.

Kyle Lowe for loaning us his Mini Disc recorder and microphone.

Didn't quite 'get' the story, but your brother seems like a funny dude. Picture quality looks great. Several shots were out of focus, but that's probably due to the whole shooting-with-a-still-cam dealio! Sound needs a lot of work. Of course these are things you probably already know. Oh, that royalty free music in the beginning absolutely drove me insane. I've heard that so many times on so many different projects. You're an FS student, you'll learn to hate it too, trust me. Heh. It's a good effort though. Keep on keeping on fellas!

Thanks for the comments Bryan. It's nice to get an outside opinion. I'm a horrible sound designer, I know. It always seems to be an afterthought, especially with volunteer work like this. I'm still working out the kinks with the D90, but all around it's pretty amazing for the price.

Yeah, I've heard good things. But have you had any trouble with the rolling shutter artifacts?
