A group of young innocent guys travel from Makassar, South Sulawesi to Soroako, a small mining town located in the north-east of South Sulawesi province with their lovely bike.
This journey took 6 days to complete. With an average of 90-150KM cycling distance and 12-14HRS of cyling time per day. From Makassar to Soroako covers around 662KM. However in the last day of cycling a big heavy rain with a thick fog hit us in a small town called Asuli (Around +/-16KM to Soroako). We were forced to stop the expedition due the bad weather and for our own safety. From the town Asuli, we hitch a ride to Soroako.
From arguing with the custom officer in the airport, getting chased by wild dogs, blistering hot sun, mistaken for a Bule (a word use to describe a foreigner especially Caucasians, how? I don't even know) and many other experiences.
What we got at the end was just a really bad sunburn and a burning leg, but our stories were always there to tell.
Even though we didn't finish the last 16KM and our trip may be short for others but the whole journey from Makassar to Asuli taught us a lot of lesson to be learn. Sometimes the journey matter more than the destination.
We are now currently looking for another new route to cycle and continue the never ending adventure.
