Into the Rainbow Vein, debut solo exhibition by Magnus Sodamin

Hold your breath, make a wish, count to three...

Primary Projects (PRIMARY) presents Magnus Sodamin’s Into The Rainbow Vein, a debut solo exhibition exploring the twilight between nature and cosmos. Creating on a monumental scale, Sodamin fosters a dialogue steeped in innocent curiosities of the outer world in real-time. For the audience, the grand dynamism and gestural strokes of his canvases are petrified, giving way to a profound experience that is unique to both Sodamin and the viewer's understanding of the world.

“Vision only goes as far as the imagination permits, but beyond that, Sodamin’s genius is how he taps into where the mind's eye sees further,” said Primary Projects founder and curator, Books IIII Bischof.

The Miami-based artist engages in a fully immersive process, often spending countless hours exploring Florida's Ten Thousand Islands, or even hiking in Hardangervidda, Norway, and stargazing on Northern Europe's highest plateus. Grounded in a vision that captures the age of the universe, Sodamin's paintings take shape around a myriad of variables that dance within giant clouds of primordial elements. His private galaxy - a delicate balance between creation and anarchy, discipline and discord - is constructed through a spectrum of mixed media, and in a free-wheeling style tempered only by color and the artist's own emotional trajectory.

Sodamin's paintings place the viewer directly into the cross-section of the rainbow - the vein the rainbow - illustrating a trip that would even impress the likes of Timothy Leary. Revealing the macro and microcosms that, in the outside world, appear only faintly in plain sight, for Sodamin, this exhibit underscores society's universal relationship with art and nature, and the never-ending drive to explore it.
