Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase / Interview with Charline Poirier, head of Ubuntu Design Team
At the Ubuntu Developer Summit in Orlando, Amber Graner interviews the head of the Ubuntu Design Team, Charline Poirier.
We choose Ubuntu as the primary Novacut platform, despite OSX perhaps seeming like a more obvious choice considering our target users. Partly this was done because we strongly feel that artists deserve a predictable, low-risk platform, something we can help shape in Ubuntu, but have no control over with OSX.
But even more this decision was made because of our confidence in the Ubuntu Design Team and the direction Ubuntu is going. (After all, low-risk is worthless if the platform dosen't cut the mustard.) Canonical has put together a world class design team who can hold their own against anyone, including Apple.
We owe it to artists to back the winning team, and so we did.
