This is a very early animation which, in spite of its simplicity, was a finalist in the British Animation Awards in 1995.
Using Swivel 3D as the modeller, Macromind 3D as the animator and MacRenderMan as the rendering engine this animation has no special tricks- but the walking building's movements were traced from a Muybridge sequence. The Muybridge sequences on the cubes were written and shaded using C++.
It has a simple story-line. A building is struck by lightening, it comes to life, and begins to search for all the infrastructure needed to turn itself into a city.
Like the London it portrays it eventually collapses under its own weight.
