1st Aiptek A-HD (poor sound did not come out for some reason.)
2nd Xacti 700
All converted to wmv with Sony Vegas. Gloomy day didn't do any of them justice. Tried to get casual, no-special-settings, no-tripod, raw footage for somewhat honest comparison.
With no conversion, straight to monitor with HDMI, both HD1000 and HV20 are identical. HD1000 is a hair too big to tote around in your jeans pocket (I liked the fact that maybe it would be just as portable as the 700 and the Aiptek), and ends up needing to be pampered like the HV20.
The Aiptek and the 700 slip into the pockets easily for grab-n-go portability. Xacti 700 has better sound and 5x optical zoom, but is about $300 more than the $129 Aiptek. Both of these also look great wired straight into the monitor.
All of capture great macro shots. HV20 focuses noticeably fastest. The last few seconds of the HV20 clip are in the 24p Cinemode.
I found that I could change the HV20 clip from .m2t to .mpeg and edit with WMM and play with Windows Media Player -- which is a bit easier than Sony's Vegas learning curve.
