Giselle Marie is a multimedia artists based in Baltimore, Maryland. Using a variety of media such as animation and film, Giselle constructs complex fantasy worlds based in other universes. Like many fantasy worlds, they are often satires of our own world. However, the narratives that unfold within these worlds are ever self-conscious of the traditional structures of mythology. Rather, they express the humble, bittersweet absurdity of the human experience amidst the dehumanizing, alienation of contemporary society.
Giselle Marie, received her Bachelors of Arts from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2011. Her time at Farmington layed the foundation for her current work. During the year after graduation, Giselle worked to expand her animation while working for an after school arts program with L/A-Arts in Lewiston, Maine. In 2012, Giselle relocated to Baltimore, Maryland to begin her studies in the Mount Royal MFA program at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). There, in addition to blossoming in her own work, she began collaborating with several members of her program. She is expected to graduate in May, 2014.
