1 month agoHe commented on Mark's Video Views in the Mark Goldberg's Videos channelSince my last posting I have gotten much more into online posting of HD video clips, and thanks to Vimeo, consider this a viable delivery option for clients. I don't see it as replacing the distributed full length video on WMVHD or Blu-ray, but it is a great way to share a trailer or short form version of an event. I have also been evaluating two new production devises, the Litepanels LP-Micro on-camera LED light, and the Hoodman Wristshot camera support device. To learn more go to www.liptpanels.com or www.hoodmanusa.com. The main thing about the LP-Micro is that it gives a long runtime on four AA alkalines or rechargeables, is dimmable, and is fairly light. The main issue is the level and quality of illumination, and that's what I am testing. I am also evaluating durability and repairability. The Wristshot looks like an orthopaedic brace as would be used by someone with Carpel Tunnel or DeQuervain's Syndrome. It has a metak extension with quick release platform to support handheld cameras like the Sony Z1 or EX1 or Canon XH-A1. It isolates the camera from wrist movement and lessens wrist loading, but does not relieve camera loading on shoulder or elbow. The one I received is a pre-production version, so we'll see if evaluation results figure into the final version if manufactured. Hoodman is well-known as a manufacturer of camera accessories like viewing hoods, viewfinder magnifiers, and memory card products. Litpanels makes many larger LED lighting systems widely used in production. Here's another interesting observation regarding computers. I have long been an advocate of the use of computers, laptops in particular, as media hubs for HD material. In Dec 2006 I changed over to a laptop for both editing and display of videos. I have been firmly in the Windows camp since my editing application, Vegas Pro, and music creation application, Sonicfire Pro, is Windows based. But now I'm reconsidering the Macbook for my next computer evolution. I got a chance to see many of them as sold in the student IT store and the University of Maryland, and I was impressed. I was told that they now represent 60% of student use on campus. The current Windows Vista is problematic, in my opinion, with regard to response, and that may be due to the required antivirus measures.
