Ruth graduated in Communications at the Complutense University of Madrid in 1998, and completed Ph.D. courses in Film and European Studies at European University of Madrid.
She has directed and produced several documentaries short films and music videos. She has studied with documentary film directors such as Dick Fontaine, Marc Isaacs, Chilean filmmaker Patricio Guzman, Michael Rabiger, Javier Corcuera F. Wiseman and Jose Luis Guerin.
Ruth worked in advertising, TV and Corporate Video for seven years and while living in London she worked for Spanish TVE and Canal+ as a correspondent. She founded Horns and Tails Productions to develop and produce documentary films.
Her last feature length documentary Till You’re Told To Stop about the incredible musical journey of singer songwriter James Blunt has been awarded Best International documentary in Puerto Rico; Best Director, Best Documentary and Best Film of the Festival in Tenerife; and nominated Best European Documentary in South Africa. Is now looking for distribution.
Her feature length documentary 200Km (co-directed, co-written and co-produced) was premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2005 to public and critical acclaim. The film has been distributed theatrically and has achieved success at festivals around the world.
Ruth lives in New York where she is producing and directing
Sweeping The Streets, a new feature documentary that will take place in Mumbay (India), Rioja(Spain), Chicago (USA),and Kyoto (Japan); and a documentary about the creative process and production of the new Rock Musical “Loserville” in the UK and the US.
