ELIZABETH HUMMER is a multiple Emmy-winning producer specializing in fashion journalism and children’s television. This seemingly incongruous mix is united by Elizabeth’s passion for stylish, authentic
storytelling. Whether she’s shooting on runways around the world or on-location at a malaria clinic in Uganda, Elizabeth always focuses on allowing individuals to be their true selves on camera.
Highlights of Elizabeth’s career include collaborating with leading fashion world figures André Leon Talley, Tim Blanks, and Mickey Boardman on award-winning videos for W, Style.com, and PAPER
magazine. Her work also earned a 2007 national Emmy (Outstanding Children’s Broadband Program) as producer, director, and shooter of a short feature of young people and their inventions for the PBS series Cyberchase.
Elizabeth’s fashion work began as a happy accident when she was asked to produce New York fashion week segments with legendary Vogue editor André Leon Talley. This led to a two-year television love affair featuring Talley’s encounters with Miuccia Prada, Diane von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein, Helmut Lang, and Nicholas Ghesquiere – among others. In 2002, Elizabeth was nominated for a New York Emmy for “Vogue’s Talley: A Full Frontal Fashion Special.”
During her six-plus years at Style.com, Elizabeth traveled to London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and LA to produce short-form pieces that captured the natural spicy rhythm of journalist Tim Blank’s signature
“cocktail party moments” featuring a cast curated by Blanks and including his many friends and colleagues in fashion and the arts.
Elizabeth’s other career highlights include producing a live, daily after-school show for teenagers and earning a New York Emmy for “My Take,” a compilation of stories created and directed by teenagers working under Elizabeth’s expert guidance. This was another small step towards her career-long dream of creating a network run entirely by children.
Elizabeth’s volunteer activities include leading a group of fifth graders on nature excursions through Sierra Club’s “Inner City Outings” program. She also volunteers at New York’s Friends homeless shelter and is on the advisory board of the Shelburne Museum in
Elizabeth Hummer’s work is governed by the principle that everyone has a story to tell, and she always does whatever it takes to help best tell that story.
