Motion design has the power to evoke awe, and it can heal cynicism.
Artists, like athletes, must practice the basics, so that when it matters, muscle memory and instinct take over. This is how I make art, focusing on design fundamentals and animation principles, as well as the basics of telling a story well. Because of this, I work as often as possible with physical media, infusing my work with a handcrafted feel.
I am drawn to the tension created by mixing physical art forms with digital ones. In addition to 2D and 3D computer animation and design, I have experience filming, editing, and lighting in a production environment, as well as storyboarding, and concept development. My physical media of choice are wood carving, block printing, acrylics, watercolor, ink, and pencil.
