Founded in October 2008 and legally established in July 2010, the ICCA Consortium (iccaconsortium.org) is a global membership-based organization dedicated to the appropriate recognition and support of ICCAs (indigenous peoples’ and community conserved areas and territories). The Consortium focuses on local capacity building to strengthen and defend ICCAs while promoting supportive legislation and polices at national and international levels.
