I-GO Car Sharing is a Chicago-based non-profit committed to affordable, environmentally sound transportation choices. Members reserve cars online and use a smartcard to self-access vehicles close to their homes, work, or public transit across the Chicago metro area. Gas, insurance, and reserved parking are included.

Our mission: reduce car ownership rates, lower transportation costs, reduce urban congestion, improve air quality throughout the metropolitan area, promote hybrid and electric vehicle usage, and partner with other sustainable transit providers and advocates.

Hybrids comprise about half of I-GO's fleet, but all of our vehicles are fuel-efficient, low-emission cars. In April 2009, I-GO also converted two Priuses to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. We hope to add many more plug-ins and electric vehicles, and are working toward a collaborative green mobility system that combines car sharing with a smart energy grid and alternative energy sources, such as electric charging stations connected to solar canopies.
