The festival will be hosted at the European University of Cyprus on 23 and 24 March, 2012.
The 2012 IMF is the first of its kind not only in Cyprus but also in the wider Mediterranean and Middle East regions. It aims to bring together film-makers, video artists, computer animators, graphic designers and their audience and to familiarise the public with what has traditionally remained as the "invisible art": motion graphics. Professionals, graphic designers, educators, academics, students and the general public will be brought together in a two-day festival that is designed to inspire.
Additionally, the Festival aims to open a forum for the presentation of the most contemporary and most creative work in the field of motion graphics and therefore be established as a pioneering event for the future that will promote innovative and cutting-edge work.
The world-known producer and director Graham Elliot will be in Cyprus to present and talk about, at a Mediterranean premiere, his documentary New York in Motion (60 minutes), which premiered on 1 June 2011 at the SVA in New York and is currently showing in more than 12 countries all over the world including the IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)in Amsterdam, Holland.
The key note speaker is Carlos Lascano, whose latest work is Amnesty international - 50 years (duration 2.05 minutes), especially commissioned for the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International.
The screening categories of the festival are 4 - Motion Graphics / Broadcast Design, Experimental, Video Art, 2D / 3D Animation. The festival includes talks and workshops too.
