Instrumenti Plus
Instrumenti is one of Europe’s most exciting and promising new music projects based in Riga, Latvia. Instrumenti was created by two academically educated professional musicians – Shipsi (keyboards/vocals) and Reynsi (drums/keyboards/vocals).
Instrumenti sound is a mix of indie-pop and experimental electro, while their vocal versatility range from beatbox to operatic counter tenor. At an Instrumenti gig you’ll hear catchy pop tunes and romantic melodies next to blood boiling electro beats, eccentric experimental pieces and Handel’s arias from the 18th century.
The Instrumenti flight took off in 2009 with their chart topping debut single Life Jacket Under Your Seat and the appearance at the Latvian Music Awards ceremony, where they returned a year later to grab two awards for best Debut and best Song.
Instrumenti have performed in various venues in the Baltic States, Europe and Russia, participating in a number of festivals, including EuropaVox in France and Belgium, Bergenfest in Norway, Be2Gether in Lithuania, Õllesummer in Estonia, Positivus Festival in Latvia, Sound of the Forest in Germany. The duo took part at last year’s South by Southwest in Texas, USA. Instrumenti have opened for Mika, James Blunt, Whale Watching Tour and among others they have shared the stage with Scissor Sisters, Moby, Skunk Anansie and The Whip.
What makes Instrumenti captivating is the duo’s natural wit, charisma and especially their creativity and skills that allow them to delicately blend different styles and genres, creating an enjoyable aural and visual adventure.

In December 2010 Instrumenti performed two shows in Riga with total attendance of more than 5000 people, throwing an epic performance for the unexpecting audience. The sold out shows featured a spectacular light show, pyrotechnics, video projections, a three piece panda headed backup band, bag pipe players and a surprise appearance by flying guitarists.
January 2011 is spent at the Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavik, Iceland, working on their debut album, which is scheduled for a release in the beginning of the summer.
