Hi Marco, thanks for your comment. Actually I decided to design the interface for kids from 8 to 16 so I'd be able to test more complicated features to help them perform better animations (such as onion skinning). I had to make a design decision on which age range to test what due to the short time frame for the project (10w). The interface is snapped with magnets on this prototype so I can easily take this one out and place a more simple one for little children.
Regarding the aesthetics I totally agree that is not totally children friendly, although being quite neutral (like in old wooden toys) the appeal comes from what's happening on the screen. Also it was difficult to find nice buttons that look durable and had good haptics, so I took these ones from an old video-recorder for the prototype.
Next version will incorporate quite a few changes, specially on the interface. Thanks again! All comments are very helpful :)
