Raised as an athlete, Jacob Jonas was first introduced to the art of dance at the age of thirteen when he saw The Calypso Tumblers, a world-renowned street-performing group in Venice Beach, CA. Now at the age of twenty, Jacob is a teacher and choreographer. He has been a teaching in the Los Angeles community for one four years now to many studios and schools and has taught workshops and master classes around the country. Jacob is best known for being a semi-finalist on Paula Abdul’s show, “Live to Dance,” with his partner, Jill Wilson. Jacob and Jill have continued to dance together since the end of the show. Jacob also travels around the world with the group he was first inspired by, the Calypso Tumblers.
Other than teaching and choreographing, Jacob Jonas is producing and directing Your Shadow, a book on dance photography. The book features artists such as Joe Tremaine, Anita Mann, Mia Michaels, Diavolo Dance Company, The Groovaloos, Derek Hough, and jazz icon Luigi, among many others. Jacob is also the youngest Ambassador for Lululemon Athleica’s clothing line.
Jacob Jonas is currently choreographing a feature film titled Claire’s Cambodia and is collaborating with Oscar Nominee and Emmy Award Winning Director, Stacy Sherman. Additionally, Jacob is pursuing a career as a filmmaker and is currently directing and writing independent short films. Jacob Jonas is a passionate, expressive, and focused young man who takes advantage of any opportunity available to him.
